The Telegraph reports that land has been cleared on a 57-acre tract near Georgia Highway 247 to make room for solar panels.

No quorum @ ZBOA 2014-10-07

There was an agenda with the solar parking Doctor Arunas Urbonas case, and a county case about Design Standards for Single Family Dwellings, but not enough ZBOA members were available for a quorum, so today’s meeting is cancelled. Maybe next month.

NYC Schools to use more solar power; how about in sunny southeast?

Solar high schools: not just for Dublin, Georgia anymore. New York City, and Rochester, NY, too! How about solar Lowndes High School? Or the new Valdosta High School? Or since Valdosta has already put solar at its Mud Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, how about on other city buildings? How about on the county palace? Or in Hahira, Dasher, Remerton, or Lake Park?

Hahira Honeybee Breakfast

300x225 food line, in Hahira Honeybee Breakfast, by Gretchen Quarterman, 29 September 2014 Gretchen reports it was congenial but poorly attended, presumably because there are no local political races undecided that affect Hahira: both County Commission Districts 2 and 5 are already done, and there’s no county Chairman or Sheriff race, and no Hahira city races this year. The only Hahira City Council member there was Terry Benjamin, although Police Chief Terry Davis and City Manager Jonathan Sumner were there, plus Wayne Bullard, who according to Hahira’s website is still Mayor.

Hahira Honeybee Festival

Once again time for the Hahira Honeybee Festival, 29 September through 4 October 2014. Starting this morning with the “Kick-Off Breakfast 7-9 a.m. Community Center- Randall St. Everyone Welcome”

This festival is not run by the City of Hahira, rather by Hahira Honeybee Festival, Inc., registered agent Melba Locher of Shiloh Road, Helen Petitjean Secretary, Melba Locher CFO, Carol Jacobs CEO, according to the Georgia Secretary of State.

According to the Festival’s history page:

The Hahira Honeybee Festival was st arted in 1981 by Mamie Sorrell and Adeline Landrum. These two ladies loved Hahira and had a vision “to liven up city” with a weekend of Arts & crafts , Entertainment, and a parade. The weekend festival has grown into a week long extravaganza. A Win: Credit Suisse on SolarCity Buffalo deal

A big bank rave review of the Buffalo deal.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — SolarCity Corp.’s solar-panel factory in upstate New York could allow the solar installer to reduce its costs and save about $400 million a year, analysts at Credit Suisse estimate.

SolarCity SCTY, -0.66% and New York struck a deal earlier this week, with the state announcing a $750 million package to build the solar-panel factory near Buffalo.
