‘Mr. Lofton has no proof whatsoever that biomass is “safe”.’ –Dr. Noll

Since Brad Lofton has once again wrapped himself in a self-imposed cloak of silence, Dr. Noll gets the last word, including two attachments, which you can find here. -jsq

Good evening everyone.

It is obvious by now that Mr. Lofton has no proof whatsoever that biomass is “safe”. He does not have one statement by a medical organization, not one scholarly publication he can share with us that backs up his claim. (Coincidentally, the same is true for other claims, as the event on January 13 will show.)

Members of WACE (and others in the community) have tried to receive proof

that biomass is “safe” for months now, either via email, via phone, or via personal meetings, but to no avail. Why? Because conclusive evidence or scholarly proof that biomass is “safe” does not exist.

Instead, if one carefully researches the issue of biomass incineration, you will find plenty of publications that show that pollutants from biomass incinerators (e.g. NOx, PM2.5, dioxin) bear significant health risks.

WACE has already shared plenty of scholarly publications and statements by medical organizations with the Industrial Authority that clearly state that biomass bears significant health risks. On December 6 we added yet another statement by the American Lung Association to that long list, which I am attaching to this email. (I am also attaching a shorter version of the “Myth vs. Fact” info sheet we handed out, since it compliments the letter by the ALA.)

It is time for Mr. Lofton to finally admit that biomass is NOT “safe” for our community … to finally stop the biomass project … and then for all of us to work on a truly clean, safe, and prosperous future for Valdosta and Lowndes County, and WACE will do what it can to help accomplish such a goal.
