The road previously known as Corbett or George, part of which may or may not have been closed at some previous data, was renamed to Caney Branch Road after a creek that flows into the Alapahoochee River, at the 25 June Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission.
6.1. Public Hearing Renaming George Road (CR #105)
EMS, 911, and postal services have an issue with locating the correct houses because there are two George Roads in Lowndes County.
He referred to the previous morning, when Commissioner Crawford Powell wanted to know if this George Road was a continuation of Corbett Road. This time the Engineer once again attempted to clarify that a northwest section of Corbett Road was closed. He did at least put up a map this time.
To compound the confusion, EPA My Waters Mapper shows the affected section of George Road named as Corbett Road. So what was actually closed?
Nobody spoke for or against. The Commission unanimously approved the name change.
