VLCIA operating budget

Apparently VLCIA collects $3 million in tax revenues annually and pays about $368,000 in staff salaries and benefits, plus $125,000 in legal and accounting costs, as well as other items in general operations. This is according to VLCIA’s Operating Budget (FYE 30 June 2011), obtained by open records request in February 2011, and given to LAKE, the Lowndes Area Knowledge Exchange. Look for yourself; here it is in PDF and two different single-page forms.

There it is in black and white. This community needs to demand results for this kind of money. any REAL business would have to prove its viability every day of the week.
Our schools have to make do with less and less and these jokers have more money than they know what to do with!! Absolutely sickening!! Time to CUT their millage!! Everyone else is making do with less. We’ve dealt with furlough days, cuts in benefits, increases in duties, reduction in force, and no raises, while the VLCIA is doing less with MORE!!!
    Cut the millage!!

I agree. Cut the millage. Why are we paying this group to bring in industries that will kill children?
I am so tired of them saying “The EPD says it won’t kill children” when the American Lung Association, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and dozens of state medical organizations say it will.
When they paid over $6,000 to a toxicologist whose credibility has been thoroughly destroyed by news reports all over the internet…
We pay these executives a huge salary and they can’t take 5 minutes to research something before they commit $6,000 to pay a corporate shill? (Dr. Christopher Teaf).
    I’m outraged.
