Videos: Candidate Forum, AAUW 2017-09-21

Valdosta State University gave the American Association of University Women Powell Hall for this candidate forum last Thursday, September 21, 2017. Why they held it in a dark room with bad acoustics, I don’t know, but at least you can see the candidates and other speakers.

Videos: Meet the Candidates –VLCoC 2016-09-27

Here are LAKE videos of the candidates running in the November general election at “Meet the Candidates” by the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce September 27th 2016. It seemed less attended than usual, but that may have been due to the larger venue of Mathis Auditorium dwarfing the audience. Each got a few minutes to say something, and nobody took questions. There were tables with information before they spoke.

James Neil Harris said he was curious about the Sabal Trail pipeline, Teresa K. Moffit said she was against it, Clay Griner voted to sell Sabal Trail an easement through the closed Lowndes County landfill, and Dexter Sharper voted in the Georgia House against river-drilling easements for Sabal Trail.

Below are links to the LAKE video of each candidate speaking, followed by a video playlist. See also Continue reading

Each candidate gets a few minutes to say something, and nobody takes questions. However, they also have tables with information and you can usually catch them before or after.

In which we discover one candidate works for the City of Valdosta and opposes SPLOST. Candidates took questions directly from the audience and answered them, unlike at later candidate forums. Candidates from the smaller cities started their tradition of not showing up for forums outside their cities. Here’s the list of qualified candidates. Hahira Honeybee Parade Saturday noon, with candidates

Missed the candidates at VSU Tuesday? You can watch them on video (now with a third viewpoint). And you can come to Hahira tomorrow to see them in the 31st Annual Hahira Honey Bee Festival, Inc. Parade.

Here are some pictures and videos from last year. The food and festivities start early in the morning and continue all day, with the parade in the middle. They had about 35,000 people last year, more than a dozen times the usual population of Hahira.
