Videos: Old Pine Road and Madison Highway rezonings @ GLPC 2019-01-28

In her first meeting as Chair, Vicki Rountree moved right along,
even getting the opening reading of the set script down to barely four minutes,
even including invocation and pledge.

All the rezonings considered that Monday by the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC) are in Lowndes County, not in any of its incorporated cities.
The two on Madison Highway appear to be coincidence.

REZ-2019-01 Jerry Stoker is apparently for one or both of the
two Stoker Development LLC parcels on Old Pine Road.
This is part of the general development of what Lowndes County staff
refer to as “Central Lowndes County”, as in their preferred development area.

The Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC) picked a new Chair and Vice-Chair
at their November 2018 meeting.
They meet again this evening.

3. CU-2018-13 Scintilla Charter Academy 2171 East Park Avenue,

A farm to subdivision, 2 Howell +3 Valdosta, 6 Nijem Remerton @ GLPC 2018-10-29

The six Joe Nijem
Remerton cases are merely for public input.
Wait, isn’t everything before the GLPC merely advisory?
So how are these items different?

Two of the five
Valdosta cases are for Michael Howell on West Gordon Street.

And then there’s

Knights Landing Development, LLC,
for which

the Tax Assessors’ acreages don’t add up to the stated 42 acres,
for the sketched out medieval street names on Hoyle Lane and the nearby property on Bemiss Knights Academy Road, off Bemiss Road.

Church, manufacturing, subdivisions, Hahira annexation @ GLPC 2018-08-27

The

Hahira annexation and rezoning
from the Lowndes County Commission meeting two weeks ago (and see comment below)
was on the

agenda for the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC) last night,
along with another subdivision, a church expansion, and some industry,
in Valdosta and Lowndes County.
I did not go, and Gretchen is out of the county, so there is no LAKE video.

You may ask yourself, as I do: why doesn’t the county video GLPC meetings?
Or the city of Valdosta?
Both have the facilities to do so.

On the

Hahira annexation and rezoning HA-2018-03, HA-2018-02.

LAKE received this comment yesterday on the Hahira case:

Here is more info on this project which I am proud to bring to the community and which I believe will be a wonderful addition to it that all will feel proud to have. It ties into the community roots, it honors those that came before, and it meets a need today in north Lowndes County and does so in a wall all can feel proud of. Videos: New Member and blood bank @ GLPC 2018-07-30

The big news is that

Lowndes County Planner Jason Davenport is leaving his position at the county for another opportunity.

GLPC

welcomed its new member, Calvin Graham, Sr., who only said “Thank you,”
to replace Celine Gladwin, who declined to be reappointed.

New Member and blood bank @ GLPC 2018-07-30

Since Celine Gladwin declined to be reappointed,

GLPC has a new member, Calvin Graham, Sr.,
who ran for Valdosta City Council District 2 in 2013, when he said

he was an Army veteran who subsequently worked for the Department of Defense.
Sandra Tooley

won, and is still on the Valdosta City Council.

That leaves the Planning Commission with no female members and no architect.
