The Lowndes County Commissioners didn’t have much to say at their Work Session yesterday morning. They did discuss potential paving of dirt roads under 6.b. REZ-2025-09 All Metal Buildings, 2515 Madison Hwy, ~2 acres, C-G to C-H.

They vote this evening at their Regular Session at 5:30 PM.

Station Locations

This one is in Minneola, near the Stone Creek subdivision: 8.a. A New Facility for Lowndes County Fire Rescue No. 4. In which County Manager Paige Dukes revealed that the county had obtained the old Rascal’s building. That’s at 4875 US 41 South in Lake Park. More later in another post about the somewhat irregular conveyance of that former Rascal’s location to the county.

  There was some discussion about the potential paving of dirt roads. If the applicant makes and entrance/exit onto a dirt road, they must pave from entrance to closest paved road. If they don’t make an entrance on the dirt road, they don’t have to pave anything. This is a standard requirement.

  County isn’t using the property and it is surrounded by property owned by the Industrial Authority. Because this is a government to government transfer it only requires a quitclaim

  This is the new fire station to be built on Stewart Circle to replace the one on Old US 41 North in Mineola.

  During the discussion, Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker asked if a similar station would be built in Lake Park. The answer was yes, at the old Rascals property. I did not know that the county had obtained the old Rascals property. The last I remember anything about that property was Tony Taylor got a liquor license in the spring of last year.
