South Georgia GBI; Roundup of Blacks In Quitman

In the appended post about yesterday’s events in Quitman, George Rhynes cites the WCTV and WALB stories. Curiously, the nearest local daily newspaper, the Valdosta Daily Times, seems to have nothing online about this. -jsq
At 8:30 AM, I began receiving phone calls from Quitman, Georgia in the County of Brooks where the County Sheriffs Office was arresting citizens at random concerning the recent Absentee Ballot Problems.

These arrests reminded me of the alleged problems Black Voters/Citizens have had with the GBI harassing them during their investigation before and during the last run off election. This included alleged actions by the GBI Investigators that local citizens complained about intimidation before, during and after the election. However little or no Public Media Attention was given to alleged Black Voter intimidation by local media. Moreover, little to nothing was published in the FREE PRESS surrounding citizen’s fear from GBI Investigators. This was a major point of discussion when I along with a local Pastor from Valdosta, Georgia walked the streets to get a better understanding of what Brooks County Voters had to go through during the last election.

Today’s arrest will surely end up in the courts.

However I do not believe JUSTICE will or can be served in the Southern Jurisdiction of Georgia. This historical and unfair South Georgia Justice System has never been fair to Blacks and no change is in sight. In fact since the election of President Barack Obama things have gotten extremely worst at all levels of government. See the Video concerning South Georgia Justice System and who is in power.

This communication is to inform all Georgia Citizens, American Citizens, Television, News Papers, Radio stations, Radio Talk Shows, Civil Rights Organizations, and others so this will NOT be buried beneath the rubbish pile of a WHITEOUT MEDIA. The people of South Georgia need a real FREE PRESS that will report the factual truth and not keep it away from the eyes and ears of the general public.

I have often addressed the WHITEOUT media in our area and that something needed to be done along the lines of equal access to the ECONOMICALLY OPRESSED people here in South Georgia that includes Valdosta-Lowndes County as well.

Please understand that South Georgia is in severe need of adequate news coverage of what goes on in our beloved community along the great social, economic, and racial divide. These Brooks County arrests did not come as a surprise to any of us that know the unfair history of this area.

Most noteworthy is that these problems have been presented to the United States Justice Department but the same people that were arrested have lost faith in even them providing any help in their case. Therefore these sad conditions in South Georgia have existed for well over 40 years without hel= p from any one. http://kvci.blogspot.com/2010/11/valdosta-daily-times-cartton-of-spotted.ht= ml

So now you know that the United States Justice Department was just here in South Georgia a few months ago and we thank them for coming. However local citizens as well as the outside community have been kept ignorant concerning these (BAD) conditions. God bless everybody, and it is a shame that we fight in foreign nations for the FREEDOM of others while our own are quickly diminishing!

Now with just four days before Christmas the GBI have arrested several citizens after a long investigation centered along racial lines. Moreover it is NOT strange that after two decades of citizens dying while custody of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail; local citizens still does not know how many deaths of jailed inmates have occurred due to a lack of help from news media, politicians, and others.

So why have NOT the GBI done a timely investigation into local jail deaths with the same speed; and in the Christmas spirit. God Bless those arrested and their families. But unless they carry their court cases OUTSIDE of the South Georgia Judicial Circuit—they are destined to be found guilty under a local unjust justice system. Therefore regardless of the outcome of this case; the history of Brooks County has been well documented by historians and major changes are needed.
