There are things you can do about the Sabal Trail Pipeline –Mario Bartoletti @ LCC 2014-03-11

Apparently the community believes the Commission thinks there’s nothing they can do, but Mario Bartoletti, speaking for himself and for WACE, said he thought there were things the Commission could do about that 36-inch methane pipeline, and he listed some things, at the 11 March 2014 Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission.

Here’s the video:

Regular Session, Lowndes County Commission (LCC),

Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, 11 March 2014.

His list included:

  1. Safety, property rights, and property values of the citizens.
  2. Request documentation about sufficient liability insurance in case of an accident for citizen compensation.
  3. Pass an ordinance for minimum five feet top cover, like the Colquitt County Commission did.
  4. Pass an ordinance requiring a minimum distance of 1,000 feet from nearest residence, school, industrial park, or similar building or construction.

I really appreciate Mario. God bless you. Just at this time, I don’t see why we can’t just say NO to this pipeline. It just seems anything less would be to acknowledge that this corporation is greater than all the citizens, landowners, relatives, friends, and supporters that oppose the pipeline.

What does the county commission think it has to lose if they side with the citizenry? In all of the meetings that have been held in the county, has there been one citizen that has come out in favor of this pipeline? Yet, there has always been around a hundred citizens showing up that oppose. The very least they could do is pass a resolution opposing the pipeline. Why are they so timid?
