At this morning’s Work Session of the Lowndes County Commission, they still had no applicants for the 5.a. Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority.

Rezonings, Public Defender, Public Works

The county is making this one too complicated: 6.a. REZ-2022-04 Radney, 5761 Long Pond Road, R-10 w/conditions to R-10.

  No applicants for landbank authority. Joyce Evans will try to convince member Jason Dove (who didn’t want to continue) to stay on the board.

  Bad plan in my mind. If someone doesn’t want to continue, believe them. I’m sure there are people in the county who would be interested in serving if they knew this opening was available.

  This is way more complicated than needed. Current conditions (limitations) on property:

  1. no manufactured homes or mobile homes
  2. no duplexes
  3. property cannot be split

  Owner wants to split one of the lots.

  jsq: Chairman Bill Slaughter did not like the Planning Commission’s solution of a 2,000 square foot minimum heated building size. They consulted County Attorney G. Walter Elliott, who made it more complicated. Various Commissioners weighed in. It’s not the same owner as in 2019 when it was last rezoned. They weren’t clear whether this property would fall under the Long Pond Property Owners Assocation, whose president spoke at the Planning Commission meeting.
