Kelly Lenz resigns as Library Director

The South Georgia Regional Library Board of Trustees announced the resignation Thursday of Director Kelly Lenz.

Lenz has accepted the position as the director of the Middle Georgia Regional Library System. Since 2008, she has served in various positions with the South Georgia Regional Library.

The Middle Georgia Regional Library System says it is headquartered at the Macon-Bibb County Public Libraries and serves Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Macon, Twiggs, & Wilkinson Counties.

The story says she will continue to work with SGRL until an interim director is named, and she starts her new job in Macon 4 August 2014.

The story doesn’t mention Kelly Lenz cheerfully providing a massive open records response about a controversial architect selection, which makes the library more transparent about that $10 million project than the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) about a $3 billion fracked methane pipeline project; FERC twice refused to release a tax-funded RFP or the proposals returned for it. The story also didn’t mention Kelly Lenz orchestrating library board candidates setting an example at the Lowndes County Commission of how to talk about themselves when applying to be on an appointed board.

Meanwhile, Kay Harris resigned as Chair and from the Library Board 15 March 2013, so the library soon will be under completely new upper-level management.
