They voted to put the

SPLOST VII Resolution on the ballot in November,

“to reimpose the tax”, with not even a hint of those

town halls that never happened.
They reappointed

Mac McCall to ZBOA.
The Proclamation
was for a boy who called 911 to help an old neighbor
who was trapped under a refrigerator
(nope, not for

South Georgia Pride).
And we learned that nobody has to fear arrest or threat
and everybody can speak their mind
in the Commission chambers; nevermind recent history to the contrary.

   He did at least ask if there were any objections from Commissioners.

   Appointment — Valdosta/Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals

   They unanimously reappointed John “Mac” McCall to ZBOA.
   This time they mentioned they had appointed him
   
   last December to the unexpired part of Dave Kirk.
   McCall
   
   spoke the previous morning;
   he was not present this time.
   
   Zoning Administrator Carmella Braswell spoke instead.

   Resolution – SPLOST VII Resolution

   County Manager Joe Pritchard muttered something nowhere near his microphone.
   Commissioner John Page moved “to adopt the resolution as presented”.
   They proceeded to do that, even though we the voters have never seen
   that resolution.

   1. 
      GEMA Performance Partnership Agreement (FY 2013)

      Emergency Manager Ashley Tye, sitting in the Engineer’s seat,
      reminded the Commissioners again that this was
      an annual renewal, reiterating responsibilities, and serving as a conduit for
      $32,770 per year from GEMA.
      Plus by having this agreement in place, the county can get financial
      and other resources from GEMA during a disaster.

      Commissioner Joyce Evans moved to approve, which they did unanimously.

      Sewer Service Requested for Lowndes County Board of Education

      Commissioner Crawford Powell asked for Option 3 to be displayed
      or read, about
      sewer service for
      Lake Park Elementary to help out their failing septic tank;

   Citizens Wishing to be Heard Please State Name And Address

   Ms. Anita L. Armstrong of Gaines Lane asked for help with her private road,
   but isn’t likely to get it; see

  Chairman Bill Slaughter announced a “9/11 remembrance” at the old courthouse
  the following morning.

  5. Proclamation

  Hunter Cochran, eighth grade honors student at Hahira Middle School
  assisted an elderly neighbor by calling 911,
  and the county gave him a proclamation of the Chairman declaring
  10 September 2013 Hunter Cochran Day.

  violated its own ordinance by permitting
  citizens videoing from their seats.
