The proposed MAZ changes were
tabled for 90 days,
they approved everything else, and
welcomed new Utilities Director Steve Stalvey again,
at the 5:30 PM Tuesday 28 July 2015 Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission.

Sandra Tooley
didn’t fill out a form and so didn’t get to speak,
but
another citizen asked about the
Naylor Boat Ramp (answer after the meeting: on schedule for this fall)
and about Sabal Trail (answer: none).

by WWALS Watershed Coalition, and pointing out the Naylor Boat Ramp on the map,
I asked what was the status of that project that Lowndes County is building
with SPLOST funds.
Nobody answered in the public meeting, but afterwards
Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker and Chairman Bill Slaughter
said it was currently waiting on GA-DNR, but assuming
that went well it was on schedule for this fall.
I told them that was good news!Also I mentioned it would be even better
if they could say it in public so I didn’t have to try
to remember and paraphrase what they said.
The Chairman answered mysteriously, “I’m not a reporter.”
No, he’s the source.
Actually, the county has a Public Information Officer who should be the source,
but experience indicates any questions to her would be answered with
“file an open records request”.
In any case, it’s good news that the Naylor Boat Ramp is on schedule.
And thanks to Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker for taking an interest.As the Commissioners were leaving the room, Commissioner Joyce Evans
mentioned they would be having a meeting about that in the next few months.
I recommended they invite some WWALS people to that.
She didn’t say they wouldn’t.I related
a number of new developments with the Sabal Trail fracked methane
pipeline, such as
Dougherty County, Albany, and their state and federal reps
planning a joint opposition meeting, and asked what Lowndes County
was going to do.
Answer: silence.
