Scottie Orenstein and Mark Wisenbaker were absent, so they barely had a quorum with three Commissioners: Joyce Evans, Mark Wisenbaker, and Clay Griner, plus Chairman Bill Slaughter, who does not vote unless there is a tie. Spoiler: they passed everything unanimously, except one item.
They took almost 2.5 minutes (less than the five minutes I predicted) on the KLVB appointments. Remember, Tracy Chapman asked for her name to be withdrawn. See previous post about the Work Session for that and what applicant Regina Kimbrough said. And see the agenda post for more about the applicants.
Slightly longer and longest at 2:49 was 6.b. REZ-2018-14 Coventry Villas, Mulligan Rd, followed by 1:32 for 7.d. Ordinance Adopting Current Board of Health Rules, which did not go as planned, and then 1:49 for the other rezoning, 6.a. REZ-2018-13 Sims, Beaver Lane.
Below are links to each LAKE video of each agenda item at the July 10, 2018, Lowndes County Commission Regular Session, followed by a LAKE video playlist. See also the LAKE videos of the previous morning’s Work Session. For more background, see the agenda post.

5.a. Keep Lowndes/Valdosta Beautiful Appointment
Video. They reappointed Vivian Miller-Cody and appointed Regina Kimbrough, both unanimously.
6a. REZ-2018-13 Sims, – Beaver Lane E-A to R-1
Video. Nobody spoke against nor for. Rezoning passed unanimously with no discussion.
6 b. REZ-2018-14 Coventry Villas, Mulligan Rd, R-A, R-1 to P-D,
Video. Matt Phelps, the engineer for the developers and the property owners spoke, saying he had nothing to add. Commissioners had no questions. Nobody else spoke for nor against. Rezoning passed unanimously.
7 a. ACCG-IRMA Property and Liability Renewal
Video. Remember they passed liability insurance unanimously next time they worry somebody might sue them.
7 b. Evidence Based Associates Service Agreement
Video. Commissioner Joyce Evans made a motion! Which passed unanimously.
- 7 c. Pine Grove Lift Station Pump
7 d. Ordinance Adopting Current Board of Health Rules
Video. County Manager Joe Pritchard again said “the entire document is here in the room”. You know, if they put it online, anybody could look at it, including Commissioners, and then maybe this wouldn’t happen: Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker moved to table, saying he had some questions about Amendment H, and he’s like to speak to presenter Mr. Coppage. Clay Griner seconded. Unanimously tabled until next meeting.
- 8. Reports (none). 9. CWTBH (none). 10. Adjournment
