Protesters at Industrial Authority, 19 April 2011

The protesters are revolting these days! Is there nothing an Industrial Authority can do to keep them off its doorstep?

Where are these people protesting? Could it be outside the Industrial Authority?

Why that sign says 2110 Park & Patterson. The logo is hard to make out, but it says Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority. PR is not VLCIA’s strong suit, or they wouldn’t have protesters on their doorstep.

Speaking of doorsteps, here are a bunch of student asthma victims lying in front of the door.

A lone law enforcement officer watched in amusement. He shook my hand and introduced himself as I went in. The protesters had a permit, and other than repeated instructions to keep off the grass, there was not much the Industrial Authority could do about them. Well, there is something they could do, but it wasn’t even on the agenda, nor even mentioned by any of the board at their board meeting. Some citizens mentioned it inside, as we shall see.

VLCIA board members Roy Copeland and Tom Call were standing on the doorstep watching the protesters as I turned to go in. Roy greeted me. Then he went inside and VLCIA Attorney J. Stephen Gupton drew him down the hall into some sort of side meeting before the board meeting started. Videos from the board meeting will follow.

The videos here of protesters were taken while the meeting was in progress. You’ll be able to hear them from inside.
