Three Valdosta cases and one Lowndes County case were discussed yesterday evening at the Work Session of the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC).

GLPC will vote on its recommendations at its Regular Session, next Monday, November 24, 2025, at 5:30 PM.

The actual decisions will be made by the Valdosta City Council and the Lowndes County Commission; see the GLPC agenda for when and where.

The first case was confusing: 3. CU-2025-09 Mary Pierce, 809 1/2 Nardo Street, CUP for a mobile home in R-6.

All the lots are slanted. The applicant wants to slide in a custom-built single-wide mobile home with the front door in one end facing the street, where it just fits by the only other two mobile homes on the street.

Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) wants to buy some property 4. VA-2025-13 AGL NW corner of Inner Perimeter and US 84 E 45.6 acres, to rezone from R-15 – R-P to C-H for a tank farm to supply nearby industry. If I’m not mistaken, that’s feeding from the same AGL pipeline that starts on my property. How about the city build solar panels and batteries instead?

The other two cases seemed less confusing or contentious.
