County back at Lake Alapaha, Hahira dwelling, Solar maybe solved in Valdosta @ ZBOA 2014-09-09

Back again: the county’s never-ending no-bid Alapaha Water Treatment plant. And Dr. Urbonas may withdraw his solar parking variance because if he connects the structures to his building they don’t need a variance.

New cases: a single-family design variance near Hahira an accessory structure near Valdosta, and a sign variance in Valdosta.

Here’s the agenda for Tuesday 9 September 2014. The City of Valdosta puts ZBOA agendas and minutes online in real PDFs.

2:30 p.m.
  1. Call to Order

LOWNDES COUNTY CASES:

  1. VAR-2014-08 — Lowndes County Board of Commissioners (6328 Lake Alapaha Boulevard, Naylor)
Variance to ULDC Chapter 4.01.02(E) as it pertains to building location requirements (minimum side yard setbacks).

    Tabled last time.

  2. VAR-2014-11 — Rodney and Karen Cain (6105 R Dustin Cain Street, Hahira)
Variance to ULDC Chapter 4.01.03 as it pertains to design standards for single-family dwellings
  3. VAR-2014-12 — Ralph and Sara Russell (3312 Tobacco Rode Road, Valdosta) Variance to ULDC 9.01.04 as it pertains to nonconforming uses (accessory structures)

CITY OF VALDOSTA CASES:

  1. APP-2014-07 — Arunas Urbonas (2922 N. Oak Street)
Variance to LDR Section 218-7 as it pertains to the location and setback distance for accessory structures

Tabled last time after extensive discussion. Word is both of these Dr. Urbonas solar parking items will be withdrawn because he’s going to connect them to his building, which means they don’t need a variance. Seems to me Valdosta City Council should still clarify the LDR to say solar parking is a special case.

  2. APP-2014-08 — Arunas Urbonas (3564 N. Crossing Circle)
Variance to LDR Section 218-7 as it pertains to the location and setback distance for accessory structures

Tabled last time after extensive discussion. See previous item.

  3. APP-2014-09— Cauthan Construction (1705 Norman Drive)
Variance to LDR Chapter 230 as it pertains to the location and sizes of freestanding signs in a multi-tenant facility
