\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe\r\n\r\nTurner Brooks<\/a>\r\nrezoning next to Pine Tree Road turns out to be in paved-over\r\nwetlands that previously flooded, only slightly uphill from\r\nnotoriously-problematical Sugar Creek.\r\nGLPC recommended tabling until Historic Preservation could look\r\nat one of the houses, but these water issues could be\r\nat least as important, and Valdosta City Council could decide\r\nto approve anyway without waiting.\r\n

\r\n\r\nPeople were\r\nsix deep in the foyer Monday night\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n for the\r\nTurner Brooks item\r\nat the\r\n\r\n25 August 2014 Regular Session of the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission<\/a>.\r\nIt was back with another plan after being\r\n\r\nwithdrawn last month<\/a>.\r\nTom Call, representing some of the owners of the property sellers,\r\nsaid they’d tried to meet with the neighbors, who refused.\r\nHe didn’t say whether they tried meeting with them one-on-one.\r\nGLPC could have put a bunch of conditions\r\non it that would have mostly satisfied the neighbors’ concerns,\r\nleaving the developers and sellers to decide whether it was worth it.\r\nInstead, they tabled.\r\nThe Valdosta City Council can still decide if they want to.\r\nHowever, one of the houses they’d have to demolish is potentially\r\non the National Historic Register, and if so, they can’t tear it down.\r\n
