\nAccording to\n\nthe VDT yesterday,<\/a>\n

\nWebsite technical difficulties were a chief topic of concern at the\nValdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority Tuesday evening.\n

\nStaff expects the website to go back online in less than 24 hours\n<\/blockquote>\nWell,\n\nlet’s see:<\/a>\n

\n\n<\/a>\n

\nWell, sort of.\nThe links in the flash thing at the top do work again,\nso you can get to detailed pages.\nWell, some of them: Staff & Board works, but Meeting Schedule does not.\nThis description still applies:\n

\nIt was also pointed out that meeting agendas and minutes were still\navailable on the crashed website, but were intermixed with coding\nlanguage.\n<\/blockquote>\nThe latest agenda is available.\nI thank VLCIA again for that, as I did both in Citizens to Be Heard\nand after the meeting Tuesday.\n

\nDoubtless VLCIA staff are doing what they can.\n

\nAs an organizational issue, I wonder\nif the electricity was out for a week at the VLCIA office\nwould the Industrial Authority do this:\n\n\n

\nAccording to Executive Director Andrea Schruijer, an upgrade was attempted\ntwo years ago unsuccessfully and the last true upgrade was over four\nyears ago.\n<\/blockquote>\nOr would they do this:\n
\nA Request for Proposal will be sent out by April for companies to respond\nto a bid for the creation of a new website.\n<\/blockquote>\nWhy do staff have to go to the board for permission to make their website work?\n

\nFor that matter, why is fixing this not the job of the new PR and Marketing\nperson?\nNot to mention, why is the new PR and Marketing person off taking a class\nin Economic Development 101?\nSilly me; I would have thought that would be part of the job description.\n

\nAs VLCIA Executive Director Andrea Schruijer pointed out in response\nto a board member (I think it was Tom Call; video to come),\nthe first thing prospective industries look at is the Industrial Society’s\nwebsite.\nAnd to her credit, unlike her predecessor,\nat least she’s trying to get it fixed.\nThe board appears to be where the source of the problem lies:\nthey could have simply said years ago this needs to be fixed, go do it.\nTo Chairman Roy Copeland’s credit, at least now he’s actively helping\nmake that happen.\n

\nHere’s hoping they get it working soon.\n
