{"id":9926,"date":"2014-08-27T20:52:51","date_gmt":"2014-08-28T00:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=9926"},"modified":"2014-08-27T21:12:47","modified_gmt":"2014-08-28T01:12:47","slug":"nydia-tisdale-forcibly-ejected-from-republican-rally-in-dawsonville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/08\/nydia-tisdale-forcibly-ejected-from-republican-rally-in-dawsonville.html","title":{"rendered":"Nydia Tisdale forcibly ejected from Republican rally in Dawsonville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2014\/08\/25\/videographer-ousted-from-gop-event-and-sam-olens-speaks-up\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/cmgajcpolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/ajcfetch1b.jpg?w=915&#038;h=614\"><\/a>\r\nState Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens reportedly asked Nydia Tisdale &#8220;I don&#8217;t know why you&#8217;re videotaping&#8221; and was recorded moments later laughing as\r\nshe yelled for help while a deputy\r\nforcibly ejected her from a political rally\r\nin front of Governor Nathan Deal and U.S. Senate candidate David Perdue.\r\n<p>\r\nJim Galloway and Greg Bluestein wrote for the AJC yesterday,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2014\/08\/25\/videographer-ousted-from-gop-event-and-sam-olens-speaks-up\/\">\r\nVideographer ousted from GOP event, and Sam Olens speaks up<\/a>,\r\nthat Attorney General Sam Olens was the only speaker at that rally to mention the incident later:<!--more-->\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2014\/08\/25\/videographer-ousted-from-gop-event-and-sam-olens-speaks-up\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/cmgajcpolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/ajcfetch5.jpg?w=534&#038;h=641\"><\/a>\r\n&ldquo;Let me be possibly politically incorrect here a second. If we\r\nstand for anything as a party, what are we afraid of with the lady\r\nhaving a camera, filming us? What are we saying here that shouldn&#8217;t\r\nbe on film? What message are we sending? That because it&#8217;s private\r\nproperty they shouldn&#8217;t be filming? What is the harm?\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;The harm that occurs post-this is far greater than her\r\nfilming us. What are we hiding? If we are telling you why we are\r\nrunning and what we stand for &mdash; what are we hiding? There is\r\nno reason for that. That is not right. It is private property. The\r\nproperty owner has the right to not have the person there. Who&#8217;s the\r\nwinner in the long run? Not a good move.&rdquo;\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nHudgens had been bragging about business in the great state of Georgia.\r\nI&#8217;m not sure this incident will help attract business.\r\n<p>\r\nGov. Deal claimed afterwards he had nothing to do with it,\r\nbut he was there, and he did nothing to stop it.\r\n<p>\r\nLawton Sack wrote for Peach Pundit 25 August 2014,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peachpundit.com\/2014\/08\/25\/carter-calls-out-deal-over-removal-of-video-journalist\/\">\r\nCarter Calls Out Deal Over Removal of Video Journalist<\/a>,\r\nthat a press release from Jason Carter&#8217;s campaign for governor\r\nsaid:\r\n<blockquote>\r\nGov. Nathan Deal refused to intervene, or even criticize the forcible removal of a video journalist from an open campaign event, even as the state&#8217;s top law enforcement official condemned the move.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nGalloway followed up for the AJC today,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2014\/08\/27\/how-a-plan-to-keep-a-gop-rally-off-the-internet-went-awry\/\">\r\nHow a plan to keep a GOP rally off the Internet went awry<\/a>,\r\nnoting if a private venue wanted no videoing, the proper thing\r\nwould have been to announce that up front.\r\nBut they didn&#8217;t, it was advertised as a public campaign event,\r\nTisdale was invited.\r\nShe even advertised the event on social media for a week in advance, including posting on all the candidates&#8217; facebook pages and the venue owners&#8217; facebook page saying she was coming.\r\n<p>\r\nNobody did anything to stop anybody else from recording,\r\nincluding\r\nBrian K. Pritchard of fetchyournews.com\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fetchyournews.com\/archives\/19628-Video-Journalist-Forcefully-Removed-From-Republican-Meeting!.html\">\r\nwhose sound recording and still pictures<\/a>\r\nare why we know what happened.\r\n<p>\r\nPritchard says Bearden later tried to blame it on the property owners,\r\nbut Pritchard never saw the property owners anywhere near Tisdale.\r\nIn an audio interview Pritchard did with Tisdale, she says she\r\ntalked at length with one of the property owners, Kathy Burt, before the event\r\nand explained who she was and what she did.\r\nNonetheless, Tisdale was taken to jail and her camera confiscated.\r\nShe was charged with obstruction of justice and criminal trespass, and had to post several thousand dollars bond to get out the next day.\r\nWhich seems especially odd given that she says Kathy Burt\r\nasked the deputy to let her drive away.\r\n<p>\r\nJon Richards wrote for Peach Pundit 27 August 2014,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peachpundit.com\/2014\/08\/27\/another-side-of-the-nydia-tisdale-story\/\">Another Side of the Nydia Tisdale Story<\/a>,\r\nquoting venue owner Johnny Burt as saying he had told the deputy\r\nto remove her and claiming Tisdale attacked the deputy with the camera and slapped him.\r\nRichards blames Tisdale, claiming she wanted to be a martyr.\r\nWhich wouldn&#8217;t explain why only Tisdale was ejected, and not Pritchard, who was sitting two rows behind her with his recording equipment clearly visible.\r\n<p>\r\nDoes any of this seem right to you?\r\n<p>\r\nChet Martin wrote for Peach Pundit 26 August 2014,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peachpundit.com\/2014\/08\/26\/ag-olens-wins-nydia-tisdale-case\/\">\r\nAG Olens wins Nydia Tisdale case<\/a>,\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nTwo days after Attorney General Olens made news for defending\r\nvideographer\/activist Nydia Tisdale, Judge Robert Adamson ruled in\r\nhis favor on her behalf.
