\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThey’re aiming at\r\n\r\n20 August 2014 for a meeting with local educational\r\nand business leaders<\/a>.\r\nAfter mulling it over for more than two years<\/a>,\r\nVLCIA waited until somebody in Atlanta told them to, and finally\r\n\r\nadded a trading name<\/a> of Valdosta-Lowndes Development Authority (VLDA),\r\nwhich two board members immediately said wrong.\r\nStill, much actual thought, discussion, investigation and potential\r\ncourses of action was presented, especially in the\r\nExecutive Director’s Report<\/a>\r\nand in the answers to\r\n\r\nAlvin Payton’s questions<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nOnly three board members attended\r\nVLCIA’s first meeting in its new office near the hospital:\r\nRoy Copeland, Vice-Chairman Jerry Jennett (presiding), and new member\r\nGeorgia Power VP Terri Lupo, who\r\n\r\nwas just appointed to VLCIA by the Lowndes County Commission<\/a>.\r\nThey did not have the\r\nexpected officer nominating committee report<\/a>, because\r\nChairman Mary Gooding and Tom Call were not there;\r\nthey barely had a quorum with 3 out of 5 board members<\/a>.\r\nAlso attending were Lowndes County Chairman\r\n\r\nBill Slaughter<\/a>,\r\nValdosta Mayor\r\n\r\nJohn Gayle<\/a>, and Valdosta City Council\r\n\r\nAlvin Payton<\/a>.\r\nAll three spoke in Citizens To Be Heard, as did I, delivering\r\n\r\nthe traditional welcome gift<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThis move uptown leaves their old building to\r\n\r\nSabal Trail and its proposed fracked methane pipeline<\/a>.\r\nHas VLCIA ever developed an opinion on\r\n\r\nthat boondoggle<\/a>?\r\n
