\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe\r\n\r\nHahira Annexation request<\/a>\r\nwas actually heard at\r\n\r\nthe Planning Commission<\/a> meeting that started at the same time.\r\nAll the incumbents were reappointed to the\r\n\r\n\r\nHospital Authority<\/a>\r\nand the\r\n\r\nshadowy Lowndes County Public Facilities Authority<\/a>.\r\nBoth the road abandonments were approved, of\r\n\r\nOld Statenville Road<\/a>\r\nand\r\nof\r\n\r\nExcess Right of Way on James Road and Riverside Road<\/a>.\r\nAll that plus a\r\n\r\nGEMA Sheltering Memorandum of Agreement<\/a>\r\nand a\r\n\r\nbeer license<\/a>,\r\nplus\r\n\r\nPoll Manager Recognition<\/a>.\r\n

        \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nHere’s\r\nwho’s currently on that Authority<\/a>,\r\nwhich is the Board of Directors of the semi-public South Georgia Medical Center.\r\nApparently they just had a meeting last Wednesday 21 May 2014:\r\n

        \r\n<\/a>\r\nRegularly scheduled meetings of Hospital Authority occur on the\r\nthird Wednesday of each month at 9:30am in the SGMC Executive Board\r\nRoom unless otherwise posted. Meeting notices are posted on the\r\nfirst floor of the main campus near the mailroom.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

        \r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard said “names had been submitted”\r\nby the Hospital Authority for the expiring position of Mary Margaret Richardson\r\nand hers was one of the names.\r\nShe spoke first, followed by Elsie Cason Napier and Charlie Godfrey\r\n(also known as Gene Godfrey, poastor and gardener at News Street Church of Christ\r\nin Hahira<\/a>).\r\nThey unanimously reappointed the incumbent.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nThere’s also a\r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees<\/a>,\r\nwhich is different, apparently in charge of fundraising,\r\nand appointed by unknown means.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      2. \r\n\r\nLowndes County Public Facilities Authority (2)<\/a>\r\n\"Gupton<\/a>\r\n

        \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\n\r\nThe members of this Authority as of 29 November 2012<\/a> were apparently\r\nAntonio Henderson,\r\nHarry B. Sullivan,\r\nJ. Stephen Gupton, Jr.,\r\nJoseph G. Stevens,\r\nand\r\nCrawford Powell.\r\n

        \r\nGupton and Powell’s terms were expiring; both wanted to be reappointed;\r\nboth were present; Commissioners had no questions for either;\r\nDemarcus Marshall moved, Joyce Evans seconded, they and Richard Raines\r\nvoted for, Crawford Powell recused himself.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nThere is\r\n\r\nPublic Notice 00072406 of 13 May 2014<\/a> \r\nin the VDT’s online notices.\r\nCounty Engineer Mike Fletcher mentioned that, and said the certified\r\nletters had been sent.\r\nNo citizens spoke in the Public Hearing.\r\nCommissioners unanimously approved the abandonment.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

            \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nEmergency Services Manager Ashley Tye\r\nsaid this was a request for reauthorization of an agreement since 2011.\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall asked if they could get a shelter for Hahira.\r\nAnswer: the location of these shelters was by GEMA, but there are other\r\nshelters the county uses, and some of those are in Hahira.\r\n

            \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nCounty Engineer Mike Fletcher said late that afternoon they received\r\na request from the applicant’s agent for it to be tabled until the\r\nnext County Commission meeting.\r\nChairman asked for a motion for 30 days, and got it.\r\nAttorney reminded him the request was for next meeting.\r\nMotion amended and passed unanimously.\r\nMeanwhile, the same item was about to be taken up at the\r\n\r\nPlanning Commission meeting<\/a> going on simultaneously across town.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
