\r\nInteresting things sometimes turn up when a landfill is investigated.\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Robert<\/a>\r\nMultiple arrest warrants have been issued in relation to a trail of\r\ncriminal activity resulting in the theft of more than $1 million\r\nfrom a Fulton County business, authorities said.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nPolice began an investigation in mid-April when Waste Management\r\nInc. made a complaint regarding Willow Oak Landfill, which it owns,\r\nfollowing an anonymous tip and a private investigation, according to\r\nthe Palmetto Police Department today.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nIn this case it was the landfill operator that filed a complaint.\r\nWaste Management is one of the two largest solid waste companies\r\nin the U.S.; the other is ADS.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe complaint alleged that a scale operator named Earnest Martin was\r\naccepting money and gifts from companies in exchange for altering\r\nthe weight of the company trucks that entered the scale. In\r\nexchange, police say Martin, 62, of Atlanta, received approximately\r\n$65,000 in money and gifts from various companies. An arrest warrant\r\nfor Martin has been secured by the Palmetto police.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"William<\/a>\r\nThere’s more, including more individuals and more companies, and this:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nEach individual is charged with felony counts of theft by deception,\r\ntheft of services and theft by conversion.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nI wonder if\r\n\r\nincluding dirty diapers in recycling<\/a> is illegal?\r\nAccepting PCBs into a landfill apparently is illegal, since\r\n\r\nGA EPD fined Veolia (now ADS) $27,500 for that 30 January 2013<\/a>.\r\nWhat else is in that Pecan Row landfill,\r\nin addition to\r\n\r\ncoal ash<\/a> and\r\n\r\nwastewater from a superfund site in Waycross<\/a>?\r\n

\r\nMaybe nothing unusual.\r\nMaybe if any of our elected or officials or city or county employees\r\never get curious we’ll find out.\r\n
