To\nbe honest with you, it&#8217;s a wide open question. Do you have the\ninfrastructure? How much will the infrastructure that we currently\nhave support? We&#8217;re going to have to find a way to get with the\nprofessional providers and find out just exactly what these\ncapabilities are in our community&#8230;. I see that as the big\nquestion. We&#8217;ve got to figure out where to start with it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nI think it is probably in my opinion one of the number one issues\nthat this community is going to have to address from the standpoint\nof where we go with economic development in the future for this\ncommunity not only for new economic development but for existing\nbusinesses as well. As a business begins to grow,\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nbegins to branch\nout further outside and get more nationally and internationally in\nour community, they have to have that broadband capability.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd the key is right now that I see is what will our infrastructure\nsupport, what is the technology that is coming in the future, what\ncan we look for? We go everything from wired infrastructure to\nwireless infrastructure where do we go? And where do we need to go\nto take the funds that we&#8217;re going to have to generate as much\ncapability as we can.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nI don&#8217;t have the magic wand right now but we&#8217;re hunting it.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s3FIwazyDKA?list=PLshUv86fYkiHaEK5PhHJ7p1RCtOz1PgWy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nThis is a huge step forward for Bill from his position\non the campaign trail, which was puzzlement whenever Gretchen\nbrought up Internet as infrastructure.\nSure and he doesn&#8217;t have a magic wand; nobody does.\nThis is a worldwide problem.\nFortunately, there are plenty of people nationally and worldwide\nworking on this problem whose expertise can be drawn on if the\nlocal powers that be so choose.\nOr they can do what they did with the county trash situation:\npretend they know everything and throw rural residents in the trash\nalong with home-based businesses.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nRoy Copeland emphasized:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\nWe surely appreciate your interest in this fairly important\n<strong>infrastructure<\/strong>\nproblem slash issue.\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nYou can hear his emphasis on <strong>infrastructure<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nContinued in the\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/02\/broadband-top-priority-education-jobs-quality-of-life-angela-crance-vlcia-2013-02-19.html\">\nnext post.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-jsq\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&nbsp; Lowndes County Chairman Bill Slaughter told the Industrial Authority 19 February 2013 that broadband is: &#8220;one of the number one issues&#8221;. &#8230;certainly one of the most important recruiting tools that we&#8217;re going to have to figure out in this community how we can get it.
