It is clear a full watershed wide study must be completed before any\r\ndecisions can be made.\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n As established in this first study—The\r\nCity of Valdosta is the recipient-not the origin- of the flood\r\nwaters. While it confirms what we already knew, my job is to try and\r\nkeep the ball rolling forward. Engage congressional leaders, secure\r\nfunding and find long term, sustainable solutions that benefit all\r\ncommunities within the watershed basin. A levee by itself is not the\r\nanswer.\r\n

\r\nThis was a comment on\r\n\r\nVideos: Flooding study by Army Corps of Engineers @ VCC 2014-05-06<\/a>,\r\nwhich was about the initial study that was confined to Valdosta,\r\nand in which the Corps proposed a levee at the mouth of Sugar Creek,\r\nabove the Withlacoochee River.\r\nTo their credit, the Corps were clear that they also want a\r\nlong-term watershed-wide study (they want to do the entire Suwannee\r\nRiver drainage area), and one of the main conclusions\r\nof the initial study was:\r\n

\r\nThis report established that there could be Federal interest in\r\npursuing future flood management risk studies undre other USACE\r\nauthorities.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
