{"id":8647,"date":"2014-05-06T09:52:38","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T13:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=8647"},"modified":"2014-05-06T09:58:35","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T13:58:35","slug":"flooding-study-tonight-twice-vcc-2014-05-06","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/05\/flooding-study-tonight-twice-vcc-2014-05-06.html","title":{"rendered":"Flooding study tonight, twice @ VCC 2014-05-06"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2014\/04\/22\/flooding-study-presentations-army-corps-valdosta-6-may-2014\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:200px\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eraarchitects.com\/images\/u7189.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nTonight we get to hear twice about the long-awaited \r\nflooding study by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:\r\nonce with no citizen input at the Valdosta City Council Work Session,\r\nand then with citizen input at Valdosta City Hall Annex.\r\nPresumably this study will say something about the Withlacoochee Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), the new\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/04\/valdosta-working-to-fix-sewer-problems.html\">\r\nforce main to prevent manhole overflows<\/a>, and\r\nmaybe some upstream measures to keep quite as much water from getting there.\r\nThis study only addresses issues within the city limits of Valdosta,\r\nnot the larger watersheds upstream on the Withlacoochee and Little Rivers\r\nand downstream: that will take more funding.\r\nPeople\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/04\/sewage-into-the-withlacoochee-again-wctv.html\">\r\ndownstream in Florida<\/a> may be relieved to hear something is being done.\r\n<\/p><!--more-->\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2014\/04\/22\/flooding-study-presentations-army-corps-valdosta-6-may-2014\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.wwals.net\/wp-content\/themes\/pianoblack\/img\/\/2014\/04\/c660b770e6470e34cfbe09bb848ae407.jpg?zoom=1.5&#038;fit=848%2C1024\"><\/a>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.valdostacity.com\/index.aspx?recordid=1895&#038;page=193\">\r\n5:30 PM at City Hall, 216 E.
