\nI’m super-excited about the whole broadband thing,\nbecause you know that’s near and dear to our heart, and our background.\n<\/p>\n

\nBut please be very careful about the buill that’s before the legislature\nthat will prohibit municipal Internets.\nRight now the legislature is trying to take off the table muncipal Internets.\nAnd I think that a municipal Internet would be a really great solution here.\nSo let your legislator know that’s a bad idea; they shouldn’t take that\noff the table from us.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nThat’s\n\nHB 282<\/a>, in opposition to which Amy Henderson of Georgia Municipal Association\nsaid:\n<\/p>\n

\nBroadband is economic development.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nAt the Chamber’s annual meeting when a local speaker stood up she talked\nabout the\nthat’s doing really well right now is\nagriculture\n\n<\/a>\nand I’m pleased to announce\nthat\n\nthe South Georgia Growing Local Conference will be here in January of 2014<\/a>\nthe last weekend, a Friday and Saturday.\nIt’s an equivalent of the Georgia Organics big conference that they have\nin Atlanta.\nExcept that it’s for south Georgia local growers, farmers, homesteaders.\nWe just were in Reidsville this last January\nand Lowndes County is going to have it next year.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nAnd the whole series of South Georgia Growing Local Conferences (this will\nbe the fourth) has been organized largely online,\nin yet another use of Internet access for economic development,\nin this case sustainable local development.\n<\/p>\n
