\r\nSomebody told me a few weeks ago there’s a big solar farm near Lakeland.\r\nHe was not very specific about where, but it’s big: two megawatts,\r\norganized by a company out of Chicago.\r\nCan anybody point me to where it is so I can go take pictures?\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nEvergreen Solar Services says<\/a>,\r\n

\r\nCompleted in 2014, 2 — 1.0 MW Georgia Power ASI projects.\r\nFixed tilt PV with central inverters, medium voltage interconnected.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nYou can see by this Evergreen Solar Services picture that\r\nat least one set of panels (facing south) is next to an east-west road\r\nwhere a north-south road joins at a T intersection.\r\nWhere exactly that is, none of the participating companies seem to say.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n

\r\nI can’t find any mention by Georgia Power of this solar installation.\r\nHowever, GA PSC shows in its\r\n\r\nDocket #1 “Electric Non-Docket 1997”<\/a>,\r\nalong with numerous Georgia Power Company filings,\r\n\r\nthis one<\/a>:\r\n\r\n

\r\nOK, so using FERC’s document search finds\r\nInvenergy’s 28 April 2014 filing with FERC of\r\n\r\nForm 561 Annual Report of Interlocking Positions for calendar year 2013 under ID-4613, et. al.<\/a>,\r\nwhich\r\nshows five Invenergy people with interlocking positions with Lakeland Solar Energy LLC:\r\nMichael J. Baird, Joseph Condo, James T. Murphy, Michael Polsky, and James J. Shield.\r\nWhich is fascinating, but still doesn’t tell us where Lakeland Solar Farm is.\r\n

\r\nLakeland Solar Energy LLC is filed with\r\n\r\nGeorgia Secretary of State<\/a>\r\nas a Delaware LLC, with principal office One South Wacker Drive Suite 1900, Chicago, IL 60606.\r\nIt shows no officers and no local address in Georgia.\r\nLanier County Tax Assessor shows no land owned by Lakeland Solar Energy,\r\nnor by Invenergy.\r\n

\r\nThe engineering company, Blue Oak Energy Inc., doesn’t seem to have\r\nanything on this installation; they apparently usually go for much\r\nbigger ones.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nCHICAGO, Illinois—(December 23, 2013) — Today, Invenergy\r\nClean Power LLC (“Invenergy”) announced the recent\r\ncompletion of construction and the start of commercial operations of\r\nits Lakeland Solar Farms (“Lakeland”), located\r\napproximately 20 miles northeast of Valdosta, Georgia.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nLakeland consists of two 1 MW solar photovoltaic facilities in\r\nLanier County. Output from the plants is sold to Georgia Power under\r\nlong-term power purchase agreements, awarded to Invenergy under the\r\nutility’s Medium-Scale Advanced Solar Initiative.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“Lakeland is our first power generation facility in Georgia,\r\nand we’re really pleased to create a new source of clean, homegrown\r\nenergy in Lanier County,” said Jim Shield, Chief Development\r\nOfficer at Invenergy. “We greatly appreciate the support we’ve\r\nreceived, and are proud to invest in the local area. Invenergy looks\r\nforward to a longterm, successful relationship with our host\r\ncommunity.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nConstruction on Lakeland began in October of 2013 and created 50\r\ntemporary jobs. Evergreen Solar Services served as the general\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\ncontractor, and Blue Oak Energy Inc. performed engineering duties.\r\nThe solar farms bring further economic benefit through annual\r\nproperty tax payments.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nLakeland, which features more than 6,800 photovoltaic (PV) solar\r\nmodules, is operated and maintained by Invenergy Services, an\r\naffiliate of Invenergy.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
