\r\nAlthough the\r\nWithlacoochee Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)<\/a>\r\ndidn’t overflow in the rains earlier this week, and apparently\r\nnot yesterday, either,\r\nthere were\r\nmanhole sewage overflows then<\/a>\r\nand according to the \r\nFlorida Department of Health<\/a>\r\nthere were similar overflows yesterday, from Valdosta into\r\nthe Withlacoochee River.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nTALLAHASSEE- The Florida Department of Health today issued an\r\nadvisory to residents in counties surrounding the Withlacoochee and\r\nthe downstream Suwannee River. The City of Valdosta has reported a\r\nspill, made up of a combination of storm water and untreated sewage,\r\nthat has overflowed into the One-Mile Branch, Two-Mile Branch, Sugar\r\nCreek and Cherry Creek which flow into the Withlacoochee River. Lab\r\ntest results received April 18, 2014, indicate higher than normal\r\nlevels of fecal coliform bacteria in the river waters.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nOddly, there doesn’t seem to be anything about this on\r\nthe city of Valdosta’s own website yet<\/a>,\r\nbut no doubt there will be.\r\nMore in later posts about what that.\r\n
