<\/a>\r\nCarlton Fletcher wrote for the Albany Herald yesterday,\r\n\r\nU.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop to take part in pipeline listening session:\r\nMetting called to address safety, other concerns surrounding controversial natural gas pipeline<\/a>,\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTwo Dougherty County Commissioners and one of their former\r\ncolleagues who is running to rejoin them have scheduled a listening\r\nsession at 10 a.m. Thursday with U.S. House District 2 Congressman\r\nSanford Bishop to discuss the proposed Sabal Trail Transmission Gas\r\nPipeline project and a planned accompanying compressor station that\r\ncould transport up to a billion cubic feet of natural gas a day\r\nthrough portions of the county.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>\r\nDistrict 2 Commissioner John Hayes, District 3’s Clinton Johnson and\r\nformer District 5 Commissioner Gloria Gaines, who is seeking the\r\ncommission chairmanship in the May 20 Democratic primary, asked\r\nBishop to attend the session being held to allow citizens to provide\r\nfeedback and share concerns about the multibillion-dollar pipeline\r\nproject.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>\r\n“When we made the appeal to Congressman Bishop, he was very\r\nwilling to take part in the listening session,” Gaines said\r\nMonday morning of the session scheduled for Room 100 of the\r\nDougherty County Government Center at 222 Pine Ave. “We got an\r\nanswer from his office right away, and that’s very encouraging.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>\r\n“What we’d like is for the congressman to make sure federal\r\nofficials (with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) are\r\nlistening to the questions we’re asking, and we’d like to hear what\r\nhe can do to assure us they’re listening.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
