\r\nHi everyone,\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nI’m very glad to announce that under the direction of President\r\nMcKinney, there will soon be a new special committee on\r\nsustainability. One of the goals of it will be to investigate fossil\r\nfuel divestment and create a report that will be presented to the\r\nBoard of Trustees. The description is as follows:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“The Valdosta State University President’s Special Committee on\r\nSustainability is charged with examining Valdosta State University’s\r\nprogress in complying with the President’s Climate Commitment,\r\ncompleting a comprehensive university sustainability audit, and\r\ndeveloping a plan of action that will make Valdosta State University\r\na better steward of the environment. In so doing, the committee will\r\nexamine the feasibility of strategies that include, but are not\r\nlimited to: recycling, solid waste reduction, hazardous waste\r\nreduction, using low emission vehicles, fossil fuel divestment, and\r\nenergy conservation. The committee will present its final report and\r\nrecommendations, to include a thorough cost-benefit analysis, to the\r\nPresident one year after the committee is charged at its initial\r\nmeeting.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nOne representative from each of the following departments will be appointed:\r\n

\r\nThe Physical Plant
\r\nThe Faculty Senate Environmental Issues Committee
\r\nSGA
\r\nThe Council on Staff Affairs
\r\nThe Center for Business and Economic Research
\r\nWith three more members to be appointed by Dr. McKinney\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAs many of you already know, Benjamin Vieth will be representing us.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nSo, congratulations, SAVE… This is another big step in the right\r\ndirection for our campaign. Let’s make it happen!\r\n<\/p>\r\n
