\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nHow is it that one foreign corporation,\r\nthat has just come into existence to do this project,\r\ncan have greater power than all of the thousands of citizens affected,\r\nand their elected governments?\r\n

\r\nNo, I’m not talking about the Keystone XL pipeline, but he issues are the same.\r\nThis one wants to run a 36-inch gas pipeline through a number of states and counties,\r\nincluding Lowndes, affecting thousands of landowners.\r\nIt’s known as Sabal Trail Transmission, LLC, and is the\r\nunholy offspring of Spectra Energy Corp. and NextEra Energy.\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nHow can one foreign corporation (they’re from out of state),\r\nhave so much power vis-avis the thousands of landowners and\r\ncitizens of Lowndes County, that the citizens must give up a hundred-foot-wide\r\nswath of their land, along with the depreciation of their\r\nproperty values, not to mention their personal safety, and allow\r\nthis pipeline to come through?\r\nThe gas is not even for use in Lowndes County, or even the State\r\nof Georgia.\r\n\r\nHowever, the general feeling is we have to give in to the\r\ncorporation’s demands.\r\nCounty Commission Chairman Bill Slaughter is quoted as saying,\r\n\r\n“There’s nothing we can do.”<\/a>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nDoes anyone else see the problem here?\r\nWhy must we, the citizens and landowners of Lowndes County, GA,\r\nhave to give up our land and security to a foreign corporation of\r\nabsolutely no benefit to the citizens and landowners\r\nof Lowndes County, Ga.?\r\nHow is this corporation given a privileged status greater than the\r\nthousands of people who live here?\r\n
