\r\nSupport of S.AV.E. Fossil Free Divestment Campaign\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nBe it enacted by the Senate of Valdosta State University (VSU) here\r\nassembled, that:\r\n

\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the Students Against Violating the Environment (S.A.V.E.)\r\norganization has presented\r\n\r\na divestment campaign<\/a> for the VSU\r\nFoundation to the Student Government Association\r\n\r\nin October 2013<\/a>,\r\nresulting in the request for additional clarity and information to\r\nbe gathered regarding their campaign, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the SAVE organization has obtained support from\r\n\r\nthe Faculty Senate Environmental Issues Committee<\/a>\r\nfor\r\ntheir divestment campaign\r\nfor\r\n\r\nthe VSU Foundation<\/a> in November 2013, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the SAVE organization has also obtained unanimous support\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nfrom the voting representatives of the\r\n\r\nFaculty Senate in November 2013<\/a> for the VSU Foundation divestment campaign, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the SAVE organization held multiple forums to address the\r\nSGA request for additional education opportunities for students,\r\nstaff, faculty, administration, and interested community members\r\nregarding the divestment campaign for the VSU Foundation, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the SAVE organization\r\naddressed the SGA voting membership\r\nin February 2014 with additional information regarding the VSU\r\nFoundation divestment campaign and answered questions, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nWHEREAS,<\/strong> the Senators of the Student Government Association voted in\r\nfavor of the SAVE organization’s divestment campaign by a vote of 23\r\nin favor, 6 against, and 5 abstaining in March 2014, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT<\/strong> this resolution indicate the support\r\nof the Student Government Association for the SAVE divestment\r\ncampaign to the VSU Foundation, and\r\n<\/p>\r\n
