\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAmusingly, when the VDT fixed the typos in their online story,\r\nthey redacted me and Gretchen right out of it.\r\nI’m flattered!\r\nStill, congratulations to the VDT on quoting a lot of landowners\r\n(and a few others who remained unredacted),\r\nand on putting this story on the front page.\r\n

\r\nHere’s an extract from the online version showing changes from the\r\nprinted version (pictured) as if the newspaper had used standard\r\nblogging markup for changes after posting.\r\nStarting with the pullquote in the printed version,\r\nwhich they edited heavily in the online version:\r\n

\r\nAffected Land owner<\/strike>\r\nLandowner<\/u> Larry Rodgers\r\nsaid he has been trying to sell his property\r\nfor a long time, and once he<\/strike>\r\nHe had an interested buyer<\/u>\r\nand they found out about<\/strike>,\r\nbut upon learning of<\/u>\r\nthe pipeline running through his property\r\n\r\nthey dropped their<\/strike>, the interested party withdrew<\/u> the offer.\r\n

\r\n“Where do I go to file that complaint!<\/strike>?\r\nAnd whose<\/strike> who’s<\/u> responsible for value lost due\r\nto property damage?” Rodgers asked.\r\nPeconom replied, “I don’t have an answer\r\nfor you tonight, but well<\/strike> we’ll<\/u> look into it.”\r\n

\r\n\r\nConcerned citizens Gretchen Quarterman said she was concerned about the\r\npipeline moving Natural Gas that has\r\nbeen fracked, and the taking of property\r\nfrom private land owners to benefit a company\r\nthat does not do business in Georgia.\r\nShe also brought up safety concerns regarding sink holes,\r\nand proposed Florida use an alternate way of producing energy,\r\nsuch as solar “because as we all know\r\nFlorida is the sunshine state.”\r\n<\/strike>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\nJohn Quarterinan asked FERC\u2019s procedural questions,\r\n“I’m oppose to this pipeline because of the three biggest questions,\r\n‘Do we need it?’ No.\r\n‘Is there a better alternative?’ Yes. Solar Energy\r\n‘Will it adversely affect the Environment?’ Yes. None\r\nof these questions have been addressed by\r\nFERC, and FERC should reject this\r\npipeline, and it should have never even\r\ngotten this far.”\r\n<\/strike>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThe next couple of paragraphs remain mostly unchanged.\r\n

\r\nThen there’s this useful clarification:\r\n

\r\nKelley Clark\r\nmentioned safety concerns and liability issues.<\/strike>\r\nsaid that Sable Trail is\r\nowned by Spectra Energy and they have\r\nhad several safety issues in the past, but\r\nare a limited liability company,<\/u> “If some-\r\nthing happens who are we going to sue?“\r\nClark asked. She also brought up the\r\nhealth concerns about the fracking\r\nprocess.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nAnd they fixed this:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDr. Michael Knoll<\/strike>Noll<\/u>\r\nwas the final citizen to speak at the scoping\r\nmeeting, and he requested that FERC pursue renewable energy\r\nalternatives because the U.S. will eventually run out of its natural\r\ngas reserves. “We are doing this to ourselves, and it’s not\r\nAmerican. We can do better. We can do better by our resources\r\nbecause they will run out,” Dr. Knoll<\/strike> he<\/u> said.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nSo they fixed a bunch of typos, added at least one useful clarification,\r\nand removed two people entirely.\r\nI’m flattered!\r\n

\r\nGretchen read\r\n\r\nthe statement from the Lowndes County Democratic Party<\/a>\r\nthat\r\n\r\nWCTV wasn’t afraid to cover<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nMost of the material that I used was from\r\n\r\nSabal Trail solar and wind misinformation<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nDanielle Jordan read\r\n\r\nSierra Club Chapters Oppose Sabal Trail Gas Pipeline<\/a>\r\nand said she was reading the Sierra Club statement, but the VDT didn’t\r\nmention that.\r\n

\r\nAll of what everybody said is in \r\n\r\nthe LAKE videos of the meeting<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nCongratulations again to the VDT for all the quotes it did put in!\r\n
