\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nI thanked the County Manager but mentioned something else\r\nthe county could do about that pipeline,\r\nat the\r\n\r\n25 February 2014 Lowndes County Commission Regular Session<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nI thanked County Manager Joe Pritchard\r\nfor\r\n\r\nnotifying constituents<\/a>\r\nlike\r\n\r\nFERC had recommended<\/a>\r\nabout the\r\n\r\nFERC Scoping Meetings starting next week<\/a>.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThen I read the\r\n\r\nrecommendation of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)<\/a>\r\nafter Spectra Energy’s \r\n\r\n1994 Durham Woods pipeline fireball<\/a>\r\nin Edison, New Jersey that burnt dozens, evacuated thousands, made\r\nhundreds homeless, and literally scared one woman to death:\r\n

\r\nThe public will not benefit from the safety improvement\r\nrecommendations developed in RSPA’s public safety risk study without\r\nguidance containing implementation procedures and without motivation\r\nfrom associations representing local governments.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nI suggested Lowndes County Commissioners might want to talk to\r\nthe\r\n\r\nAssociation of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG)<\/a>\r\nabout that.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
