And\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/Article.aspx?cdid=A-25991323-12588\">\r\nevery single electron put on the grid came from the sun<\/a>,\r\naccording to a report released today.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nThat&#8217;s apparently not even counting rooftop solar.\r\n<p>\r\nThe report is\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/Article.aspx?cdid=A-25991323-12588\">\r\nSolar the sole capacity completed in October, at 530 MW<\/a>,\r\nby Althena Enguerra for SNL 25 November 2013.<!--more-->\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/sos-plan-to-make-the-southeast-a-net-exporter-of-the-energy-from-solar-and-wind-john-s-quarterman-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7446\/9238264167_af3ef83ecc_n.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nCampo Verde Solar was the largest unit completed, with 139 MW of photovoltaic capacity. The Imperial County, Calif., plant was the fifth solar facility jointly \r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/articleabstract.aspx?id=17531371&#038;KPLT=8\">\r\nacquired<\/A>\r\nby\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4004298\">\r\nSouthern Co.<\/A>\r\nsubsidiary\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4073535\">\r\nSouthern Power Co.<\/A>\r\nand\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4329244\">\r\nTurner Renewable Energy<\/A>.\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4211343\">\r\nFirst Solar Inc.<\/A>, which built the plant, is also in charge of its operations and maintenance for 10 years. The entire capacity of the facility is to be\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/articleabstract.aspx?id=25687435&#038;KPLT=8\">\r\nsold<\/A>\r\nto\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4057062\">\r\nSempra Energy<\/A>\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/snapshot.aspx?ID=4057097\">\r\nSan Diego Gas &amp; Electric Co.<\/A>\r\nunder a 20-year power purchase agreement.\r\nAn independent study\r\n<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.snl.com\/InteractiveX\/doc.aspx?ID=17531045\">\r\nshowed<\/A>\r\nthat the facility, the largest solar PV facility owned by Southern, is expected to provide economic benefits of about $239 million to Imperial County.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nAs\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/sos-plan-to-make-the-southeast-a-net-exporter-of-the-energy-from-solar-and-wind-john-s-quarterman-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\nI said to Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning back in May 2013<\/a>\r\nat the SO Stockholder Meeting,\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nOkay, so &mdash; and there&#8217;s a lot of economic advantages to Campo\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/sos-plan-to-make-the-southeast-a-net-exporter-of-the-energy-from-solar-and-wind-john-s-quarterman-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3809\/9238265489_3868069d3f_t.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nVerde. In jsq longer Campo Verde PR\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southerncompany.com\/about-us\/our-business\/southern-power\/pdfs\/Campo-Verde-News-Release-4-23-13.pdf\">\r\nthis longer version of the press release<\/a>,\r\nand I&#8217;m talking about building the economy, 239 million\r\nover the next 30 years to the local county, $17.5 million in local\r\ntax revenue, 250 construction jobs. Unfortunately, that&#8217;s in\r\nCalifornia.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/why-are-you-gambling-on-nuclear-instead-of-solar-gloria-tatum-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:left;border:none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.ytimg.com\/vi\/hxR4iyVvCdY\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nHowever,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/05\/georgia-missing-out-on-solar-jobs-behind-new-jersey-and-michigan.html\">\r\nwe can have that right here in the Southeast<\/a>,\r\nwhich is where I want to compliment\r\nPaul Bowers at Georgia Power because Georgia Power is helping\r\nconnect\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/why-are-you-gambling-on-nuclear-instead-of-solar-gloria-tatum-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\ntwo megawatts of solar power coming into Valdosta, Georgia<\/a>,\r\nin the near future and perhaps some more. And Georgia Power is\r\nhelping connect\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/videos-solar-dublin-high-school-groundbreaking-dhs-solar-2013-03-11.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:left;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8099\/8550458871_6eca148682_m.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/videos-solar-dublin-high-school-groundbreaking-dhs-solar-2013-03-11.html\">\r\nthe megawatt on the roof of Dublin High School<\/a> in\r\nDublin, Georgia. Which, by the way, is going to use\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/04\/opportunities-from-solar-power-jerome-tucker-and-mage-solar-at-lhs-29-march-2011.html\">\r\nMAGE solar\r\npanels; that&#8217;s a German company but it&#8217;s manufacturing in Dublin,\r\nGeorgia<\/a>. And I believe some of those panels going in in Valdosta are\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2010\/12\/suniva-went-to-solar-valley-michigan-which-has-a-plan.html\">\r\nSuniva panels, manufactured in Norcross, Georgia<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/sos-plan-to-make-the-southeast-a-net-exporter-of-the-energy-from-solar-and-wind-john-s-quarterman-so-2013-05-22.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3725\/9238267661_e913655799_m.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nTF:\r\nA Georgia Tech guy developed those.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nAnd since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/more-solar-by-georgia-power-ga-psc.html\">GA PSC in July required Georgia Power to more than double\r\nthe amount of solar power it buys<\/a>,\r\nSouthern Company may finally deploy significant solar power in the southeast.\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"While ten nukes were shut down or cancelled in 2013, solar power continues its compound-interest-curve ever-faster deployment.
