\r\n\r\nSecret Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) – Environment Consolidated Text<\/a>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nToday, 15 January 2014, WikiLeaks released the secret draft text for\r\nthe entire TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) Environment Chapter and\r\nthe corresponding Chairs’ Report. The TPP transnational legal regime\r\nwould cover 12 countries initially and encompass 40 per cent of\r\nglobal GDP and one-third of world trade. The Environment Chapter has\r\nlong been sought by journalists and environmental groups. The\r\nreleased text dates from the Chief Negotiators’ summit in Salt Lake\r\nCity, Utah, on 19-24 November 2013.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe Environment Chapter covers what the Parties propose to be their\r\npositions on: environmental issues, including climate change,\r\nbiodiversity and fishing stocks; and trade and investment in\r\n‘environmental’ goods and services. It also outlines how to resolve\r\nenviromental disputes arising out of the treaty’s subsequent\r\nimplementation. The draft Consolidated Text was prepared by the\r\nChairs of the Environment Working Group, at the request of TPP\r\nMinisters at the Brunei round of the negotiations.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
