Solar power that\n\n<!--more-->\ncan be put on housetops and business roofs and <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/06\/solar-lowndes-high.html\"> school roofs and parking lots<\/a> so it&#8217;s distributed and doesn&#8217;t all go out in a storm. How do we know all that? From other places such as Germany, and New Jersey, and North Carolina, and <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/austin-energy-changed-from-anti-solar-to-pro-solar-in-one-year.html\"> Austin, Texas<\/a> that already did it years ago. You know, Germany, where <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/06\/clean-green-jobs-for-more-community-and-profit.html\">solar power brings clean jobs for energy independence and profit.<\/a> Germany, <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/06\/germany-solar-equal-to-20-nuclear-plants.html\"> 1,000 miles north of us, with sunlight like Alaska.<\/a> We could do better, here in the south Georgia sun that&#8217;s baking Macon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/06\/germany-solar-equal-to-20-nuclear-plants.html\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b016306510ad2970d\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b016306510ad2970d-pi.gif\"   width=\"536\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How do I know that? My solar panels have been through hail storms and heat waves and power outages <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/10\/do-you-have-solar-energy-yourself-why-yes-yes-i-do.html\"> <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b01676809c342970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b01676809c342970b-pi.jpg\"    \/><\/a> and I still had power the whole time. Maybe Georgia Power should get\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/05\/in-georgia-competitive-is-not-for-you.html\">\ntheir Territoriality Law<\/a> out of the way so you could get financing to put up panels and maybe even sell your excess power to somebody else who needs it. In Germany, most renewable energy production <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/01\/farmers-and-other-people-own-most-of-germanys-reneable-energy-production-.html\"> is owned by farmers and other people,<\/a> not power companies. Maybe Southern Company should stop <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/06\/the-solar-train-is-leaving-the-station-but-the-nuclear-buggywhip-is-in-the-way.html\"> sucking up all the money for their nuke boondoggle<\/a> so we could use it for sun and wind instead.<\/p>\n<p>-jsq<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Driving north Friday, the temperatures kept getting hotter.
