The banal argument that transitioning<br \/>\nto a clean energy economy will cost us jobs is simply false. Solar<br \/>\nis growing more than 10 times faster than the American economy.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nSolar already employs more than coal, and that gap is widening. In<br \/>\n2012, solar added 14,000 new jobs, up 36 percent from 2010 and the<br \/>\nindustry will add another 20,000 jobs this year. The fossil fuels<br \/>\nindustry cut 4,000 jobs last year. So when it comes to employing<br \/>\nAmericans, solar is winning.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nThat 119,000 jobs in the solar industry is also more than<br \/>\nthe 106,400 &#8220;production and nonsupervisory employees&#8221; in the oil and<br \/>\ngas extraction industry, and gaining rapidly <!--more-->on the<br \/>\ntotal of 197,500 for that industry in September 2013, according to<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/iag\/tgs\/iag211.htm\"><br \/>\nOil and Gas Extraction: NAICS 211&#8243;<\/a>,<br \/>\nU.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n<p>\nThis is why solar is gaining jobs so fast,<br \/>\nprices continuing to drop year on year (<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/what-is-moores-law-for-solar-power.html\"><br \/>\nMoore&#8217;s Law for solar<\/a>)<br \/>\nproduces increasing solar deployment year after year like compound interest:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/06\/11\/us-solar-energy-record-high\/\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none;width:612px\" src=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/US-PV-Installations-by-Market-Segmet-1024x676.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/solar-power-will-win-like-the-internet-did.html\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8226\/8421700685_a46c93cf27_n.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nThe people of Georgia<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/10\/citizens-for-solar-power-ga-leg-not-so-much.html\"><br \/>\nmostly already get this<\/a>, despite the mighty megaphone of the<br \/>\nfossil fuel industry continually trying to shout down the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Solar power<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/solar-power-will-win-like-the-internet-did.html\"><br \/>\nis going to win like the Internet did<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>T. Boone Pickens with his natural gas export investments<br \/>\nin about six years could well look like<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/09\/how-fast-industries-can-change-mobile-phones-and-solar-power.html\"><br \/>\nSteve Ballmer after he ridiculed the iPhone in 2007<\/a>.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s Steve Ballmer <em>former<\/em> CEO of Microsoft, partly because,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/09\/how-fast-industries-can-change-mobile-phones-and-solar-power.html\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:160px\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.ytimg.com\/vi\/eywi0h_Y5_U\/mqdefault.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nas he said <a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.theverge.com\/2013\/9\/19\/4750086\/ballmer-almost-no-mobile-share-microsoft-opportunity\">19 September 2013<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nMobile devices. What a source of power!
