\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nStanding room only while\r\n\r\nEllis Black<\/a> (GA Dist. 174),\r\nBill Slaughter<\/a> (Lowndes County Chairman),\r\nand\r\nTim Carroll<\/a> (Valdosta City Council) spoke after\r\nGretchen Quarterman<\/a>\r\ngave an introduction\r\nat the\r\n\r\nfirst SpectraBusters Informational Meeting<\/a> last Saturday.\r\nA second meeting is scheduled for\r\n\r\nthis Saturday morning at 10AM at the Valdosta City Hall Annex<\/a>.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\n\r\nGretchen asked<\/a> if there were any representatives from the pipeline\r\ncompany present.\r\nNobody spoke up.\r\nSeveral affected landowners did speak:\r\nBeth Gordon from Levy County, Florida\r\nand Larry Rodgers and Carol Singletary from Lowndes County, Georgia.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nVideo<\/a>.\r\n\r\nElected officials spoke<\/a>.\r\n\r\nBill Slaughter (Lowndes County Chairman)<\/a> said his main goal\r\nwas to be sure citizens of Lowndes County were treated fairly\r\nand with respect.\r\nVarious citizens urged him to do more.\r\n

\r\nCommissioners Joyce Evans (District 1)<\/a>\r\nand\r\nCrawford Powell (District 3)<\/a>\r\nwere also present, but declined to speak.\r\n

\r\n \r\nEllis Black (GA Dist. 174)<\/a>, stood up\r\nand agreed with the Chairman that eminent domain might happen.\r\nHowever, he added:\r\n

\r\nYour best defense is the economics.\r\nMake this the most expensive route;\r\nmake them go somewhere else.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nHe added further thoughts about property valuations.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\n\r\nOne citizen wanted to know<\/a>\r\nthe name of the agency that was driving this.\r\nThe elected officials didn’t seem to know.\r\nThe actual answer is the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\n\r\nTim Carroll (Valdosta City Council)<\/a>, barely finding space to edge\r\ninto the room<\/a>, said he was present as council for District 5,\r\nalso representing one of the citizens in the room, who lives in\r\nhis district.\r\n

\r\nLater Council Carroll organized the Valdosta City Hall Annex\r\nas the venue for\r\nthis Saturday morning’s second meeting,\r\n\r\n10 AM November 23rd 2013<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
