\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nPrequel of the\r\nbogus VLMPO maps<\/a>!\r\nMaybe the\r\n\r\nValdosta City Council tonight<\/a>\r\nwill clarify why the\r\nIndustrial Authority is asking it to\r\n\r\nannex<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nrezone<\/a>\r\na parcel it apparently does not own.\r\nHere’s what the Planning Commission said about that,\r\nplus rezonings in\r\n\r\nDasher<\/a>\r\n(no speakers and approved unanimously)\r\nand\r\n\r\nHahira<\/a>\r\n(tabled at request of applicant;\r\nsee\r\n\r\nseparate post for more on that one<\/a>),\r\nplus two in Lowndes County:\r\n\r\nTeramore<\/a> (yes, it’s Dollar General again, and they unanimously recommended it),\r\nand\r\n\r\nNottinghill<\/a> is\r\n\r\nback<\/a> and got tabled again.\r\n

            \r\nVideo part 1<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nvideo part 2<\/a>.\r\nIt’s Dollar General, and one citizen wanted to know if they’d put up\r\na fence between it and his property.\r\nAnswer was yes.\r\n

            \r\nA Teramore rep from Thomasville\r\n\r\nhopped up to clarify that they’d talked to the neighbors<\/a>\r\nand they’d implement any requests within reason, which appeared to mean\r\nas long as they didn’t need to spend much money on it.\r\nCommissioners wanted to ensure that\r\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport wanted to put some teeth into that.\r\nTeramore rep said:\r\n

            \r\n“It’s on public record and my word….”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

            \r\nCommissioner Chip Wildes said\r\n\r\nhe thought they shouldn’t be considering personal feelings;\r\nrather they should make decisions solely based on land use<\/a>.\r\nSo why are they letting Teramore make subjective judgments as to what\r\nrequests they feel like honoring?\r\n

            \r\nWildes ended up\r\n\r\nmaking a motion to recommend<\/a>.\r\nCommissioner Jody Hall seconded.\r\nUnanimous approval.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          2. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nREZ-2013-ll Nottinghill<\/strong><\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n
            \r\nLocation: Orr Road, Valdosta, Georgia\r\n
            \r\nRequest to rezone 14.99 acres from R-A (Residential Agricultural) to R-21 (Medium Density Residential)\r\n
            \r\n\r\n\r\n*Note: This case\r\n            \r\nwas tabled from the GLPC\u2019s September 29, 2013, regular meeting<\/a>\r\n<\/em>\r\n<\/strong>\r\n

            \r\nActually, GLPC only recommends.\r\nAnd following its recommendation, \r\nLowndes County Commission tabled REZ-2013-11 at its regular session of 8 October 2013<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

              \r\nVideo part 2<\/a>.\r\nThere was some discussion of data sources and other projections.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

            2. \r\nAttendance policy for appointed Boards<\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n

              \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nTabled at request of Valdosta City Planner Matt Martin because\r\nGLPC Chairman was not present and only 6 of 11 Commissioners were.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

            3. \r\nGLPC 2014 Meeting Schedule (Draft)<\/a>\r\n

              \r\nVideo.<\/a>\r\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport said he and County Zoner Carmella Braswell\r\nwere collecting Commissioner schedules.\r\nThey also talked about a holiday gathering.\r\nFormer GLPC Chairman Bill Slaughter used to host at his lake house,\r\nbut now he’s moved on to be County Chairman.\r\nValdosta City Planner Matt Martin said the city and county\r\nused to have budgets for that sort of thing, but no longer,\r\nso they needed to be creative.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
