\r\n<\/a>\r\nSpectra said “more rural” “lessens stakeholder impact”.\r\nWhat do you think about that, rural landowners whose land Spectra wants?\r\nCounty Chairman Bill Slaughter said\r\nthe most positive thing he’s said so far,\r\n“we’re going to be looking out for the citizens of Lowndes County”,\r\nabout this\r\nnatural gas pipeline potentially ripping a 100 foot right of way\r\nthrough this county and many others in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama\r\nfor the benefit of Florida Power and Light.\r\nAnd Valdosta, you’re not for sure out of the pipeline path:\r\nremember\r\n\r\nFERC could choose that Option B through Valdosta that is Spectra’s\r\nalternate route<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nJames Buechele wrote for WCTV yesterday,\r\n\r\nPipeline Would Cut Through Florida & Georgia<\/a>,\r\n

\r\nAndrea Grover, spokesperson for the Sabal Trail Transmission\r\nreleased this statement.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“Sabal Trail Transmission has chosen a proposed pipeline route that\r\nis more rural and lessens stakeholder impact. Our original routing\r\nwas closer to Valdosta. In addition, the company will do extensive\r\ncivil, environmental and archaeological surveys to further minimize\r\nthe pipeline’s impact. We are actively meeting with property owners\r\nalong the route to learn more about their property and to educate\r\nthem about the pipeline proposal. This is a long cooperative process\r\nwith construction expected to begin in May of 2016.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nI guess\r\nthe citizens who spoke Tuesday<\/a> got Bill’s attention:\r\n

\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter of the Lowndes County commission says\r\nresident’s concerns are being listened to locally despite the\r\nfederal government’s involvement.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“Bottom line is we’re going to be looking out for the citizens of\r\nLowndes County.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nDr. Noll makes a good point but it turns out to be not quite correct:\r\n

\r\n\"Eminent<\/a>\r\nVSU associate professor of Geography, Michael Noll, says federal\r\njurisdiction could be used to get the pipeline where the companies\r\nneed it to go.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“[Eminent Domain] has given them basically the right to build a gas\r\npipeline anyway they want, with or without consent of the\r\nlandowners.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
