\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nVice Chair Richard Raines ran the work session, calling the meeting to\r\norder and moving briskly through the first item (minutes for approval).\r\nCommissioners asked questions on most of the other items.\r\n-gretchen\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nIn the Library item<\/a> Commissioners discovered even they\r\ndidn’t get the whole board packet.\r\nAfter the meeting,\r\nGretchen filed an open records request for the agenda packet,\r\nbut if the county runs true to form she won’t get it until after\r\nthey vote in the Regular Session tomorrow evening at 5:30 PM.\r\n\r\nInsurance<\/a> plan\r\nand\r\nhealth plan<\/a>\r\ntook more than 20 minutes, with many questions from Commissioners.\r\n

        \r\nSection 125 is cafeteria or flexible benefit<\/a> insurance.\r\nHuman Resources Director, Kevin Beals said this plan would remove county\r\nemployees’ premiums.\r\nSeveral Commissioners asked questions, which he answered.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      2. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nHealth Benefit Vendor and Premium Change for 2014<\/a>\r\n

        \r\nHuman Resources Director Kevin Beals\r\nsaid Group Resources had administrated since 14 December 2004,\r\nbut they were now putting that “out on the market”.\r\nBids came in from Aetna, Coventry BCBSGA, and United Health Care.\r\nCompared to the incumbent for costs and disruptions,\r\nBCBSGA seemed to be the winner.\r\n“Miss Laurie from McCart” (the county’s insurance broker) came up to\r\nfurther explain.\r\nSeveral Commissioners grilled her.\r\nShe had call somebody else up for reinforcement.\r\nThis went on for almost 18 minutes.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nAccording to County Manager Joe Pritchard,\r\nLowndes County has received an annexation request from the City of Valdosta on behalf of the Valdosta Lowndes County Industrial Authority. The location is off the New Statenville Highway and the county has 30 days to register any objection based up on land use only.\r\nIs VLCIA planning on making yet another industrial park?\r\n<\/p>\r\n
