According to the report,<br \/>\nthree of the violations were higher-level offenses.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAccording to the report, Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro was also issued<br \/>\n75 safety violations between 2000 and 2012.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nAllison Macfarlane wrote on the NRC blog 9 October 2013,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/public-blog.nrc-gateway.gov\/2013\/10\/09\/from-the-chairman-an-update-on-the-nrc-shutdown\/\"><br \/>\nFrom the Chairman: An Update on the NRC Shutdown<\/a>,<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/public-blog.nrc-gateway.gov\/2013\/10\/09\/from-the-chairman-an-update-on-the-nrc-shutdown\/\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nrc.gov\/admin\/img\/logo-nrc-banner.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nDespite our best hopes, the NRC on Thursday will be joining the rest<br \/>\nof the federal government in shutting down due to a lapse in<br \/>\nappropriations. I believe we all share a deep disappointment that<br \/>\nthis action has become necessary.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBy using &ldquo;carryover&rdquo; funds, we&#8217;ve been able to stay<br \/>\nopen, but those funds have now been depleted. Wednesday is the last<br \/>\nfull day that the NRC will be operating normally until we receive an<br \/>\nappropriation. Beginning on Thursday, we will not conduct<br \/>\nnon-emergency reactor licensing, reactor license renewal amendments,<br \/>\nemergency preparedness exercises, reviews of design certifications<br \/>\nor rulemaking and regulatory guidance.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nSo Plant Hatch, same design as Fukushima, runs without oversight.<br \/>\nPlant Vogtle, too.<br \/>\nIf they were solar plants, or even better distributed rooftop solar,<br \/>\nnobody would need to constantly inspect them to make sure they<br \/>\ndidn&#8217;t leak radioactivity or melt down or explode.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n -jsq<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Georgia&#8217;s two nuclear sites got more than a safety violation a month over a dozen years, and now the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is shut down.
