Hahira City Council (population about 2,800) spent more time in open public discussion about each of\nseveral individual agenda items than the Lowndes County Commission (population 111,000+) typically spends on an entire &#8220;open meeting&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>They <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O-zINX25NEk&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=6&amp;feature=plpp_video\"> held a millage hearing <\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IsbJesJczfM&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=8&amp;feature=plpp_video\"> lowered the milage<\/a>. They discussed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9Y-1xz2uBd0&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=10&amp;feature=plpp_video\"> developer tap fees<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XmHIvwZAV28&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=11&amp;feature=plpp_video\">nay<\/a>), discussed the now-ritual topic of bidding for waste disposal (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EujalT5CJD0&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=12&amp;feature=plpp_video\"> nay<\/a>), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q32pPcQqPUU&amp;list=PL51FF4876C5AF865F&amp;index=13&amp;feature=plpp_video\"> approved a GEFA loan for a new water well (yea)<\/a>. Citizens mostly wanted to talk about the police chief&#8217;s proposal to fine people who didn&#8217;t mow their lawns.<\/p>\n<p>A few more videos will be added, <strike>probably today,<\/strike> (<strong>now available as\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/08\/council-comments-hahira-2012-08-02.html\">Council Comments<\/a><\/strong>)\nof the votes on cost of living increases (yea), SPLOST VII (yea), the consent agenda (yea), and council comments at the end of the session.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"#agenda\">agenda<\/a> is below after the videos; thanks to City Manager Jonathan Sumner for sending it.
