\r\nThe\r\n\r\nSeven Out Superfund site<\/a> is not in any of the severe aquifer\r\n\r\nrecharge zones<\/a> in Ware County, fortunately,\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nbut\r\n\r\ndrainage<\/a> from it goes right across Waycross into the Satilla River,\r\ncarrying who-knows-what pollution with it.\r\nIt’s time to find out what pollution, where it comes from, and\r\n\r\nwhat plume of toxic chemicals it is making underground<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThese maps are from\r\n\r\nJoint Ware County – City of Waycross Community Assessment, September 2010,\r\nSGRC<\/a>,\r\nwhich is part of the Joint Ware County – City of Waycross Comprehensive Plan.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>Recharge zones<\/H3>\r\nPage 91 shows recharge zones for the Floridan Aquifer, all well outside\r\nthe Waycross city limits.\r\nThis doesn’t mean toxic chemicals aren’t getting into groundwater;\r\nit only means they’re maybe not getting directly into the aquifer\r\nbelow the surface water, so maybe the damage is somewhat limited.\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nDrainage route<\/H3>\r\nDetail from the flood map on page 96 shows\r\ndrainage from the Seven Out plant site on 3 Folks Street\r\napparently going to the creek in Folks Park at the corner of Mary Street\r\nand McDonald,\r\nand then\r\nzigzagging down the creek (and probably underground as well)\r\nacross Screven Avenue and Plant Avenue to reach the Satilla River.\r\nAnd where else?\r\n
