Investment in the world&#39;s\nlargest economy sank by almost a third to $44.2bn in 2012 amid fears\nthat important wind power tax credits would lapse at the end of the\nyear.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nThe wind tax credits were renewed, and the U.S. has demonstrated it\ncan move out ahead on renewables if it wants to.\nIt&#39;s time for it to want to, instead of wasting time and resources\non boondoggles like\nthe\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/from-15-to-19-months-late-plant-vogtle-nukes.html\">\never-later and more expensive nukes at Plant Vogtle<\/a>\nor\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/nuclear-is-over-jeremy-rifkin.html\">\nnuclear energy in general<\/a>,\nor for that matter pretty much any form of fossil fuels,\nbecause\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/01\/carbon-bubble-solar-and-wind-erode-coal-gas-and-biomass-credit-quality-moodys.html\">\nthe carbon bubble is going to pop<\/a>\nlike\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/ga-biomass-bubble-bursts.html\">\nthe Georgia biomass bubble<\/a> already did.\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/renewables-are-winning-nukes-are-dead-and-coal-is-crashing.html\">\nRenewables are Winning, Nukes are Dead, and Coal is Crashing.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIt&#39;s time to follow\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/what-is-moores-law-for-solar-power.html\">\nMoore&#39;s Law for Solar<\/a>\nas it\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/2012-solar-deployments-driven-by-moores-law-price-reductions.html\">\ncontinues to drive solar deployments up.<\/a>\nThere&#39;s still a day to get\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/02\/want-to-finance-solar-call-ga-sen-jack-murphy-today-about-sb-51.html\">SB 51<\/a>\npassed out of the Georgia Senate and introduced in the House\nso we can have real solar financing in Georgia.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/01\/power-source-growth-rates-like-compound-interest.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d40d33497970c\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d40d33497970c-pi.jpg\" \/><\/a>\nNationally, if we choose, we can push solar deployments up from their\ncurrent rate of about 65% compound annual increase to 100%\nand move the likely date ahead a few years for when solar will produce\nmore power than any other source.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-jsq\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pilita Clark wrote for Financial Times 14 January 2013, China retakes renewables investment lead, China has surged ahead of the US to regain its title as the world&#39;s biggest investor in renewable energy, new figures showed on Monday.
