\r\nI wonder who else is sick of\r\n\r\nsewage<\/a>?\r\n

\r\nAP, today,\r\n\r\nSick Of Spewing Sewage, Georgia Neighbors File Lawsuit<\/a>,\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe Georgia Environmental Protection Division responded to a\r\nRochelle resident’s complaint of waste spewing across portions of a\r\n10-block area in March. The agency concluded there had been a major\r\nspill of more than 10,000 gallons of raw sewage. A March 29 letter\r\nfrom state regulators says Rochelle city officials were aware of\r\n“frequent spill events” in the past but had made “minimal to no\r\nprogress” in fixing the problems.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe complaint and the lawsuit both started with 67-year-old John\r\nJackson, a retired Rochelle city maintenance worker who reached out\r\nto state regulators and the nonprofit environmental law firm\r\nEarthjustice. The firm filed suit on behalf of him and seven\r\nco-plaintiffs.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nWell, of course our local\r\n\r\ncounty seat<\/a>\r\nand county<\/a>\r\nhere are working on fixing their sewage problems….\r\n

\r\n

\r\nToni Sawyer, an attorney for Rochelle, said issues raised in the\r\nlawsuit should be solved by the repairs the city is already working\r\ntoward with state regulators. Alyssa Coe, the attorney for the suing\r\nresidents, said her clients will have more of a voice in the outcome\r\nby going to federal court.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nJackson said he’s weary of waiting for solutions.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“Since I retired I’ve been burying (expletive) every time it rains,”\r\nJackson said. “I just made up my mind I ain’t going to bury\r\nanymore.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
