Greater Lowndes Planning Commission<\/h3>\n

Purpose:<\/strong>
The mission of the Greater Lowndes
\nPlanning Commission (GLPC) is to look beyond short-term solutions in
\nplanning for the future of the Greater Lowndes community; to improve the
\npublic health, safety, convenience and welfare; and to provide for the
\nsocial, economic and physical development of communities on a sound and
\norderly basis, within a governmental framework and economic environment
\nwhich fosters constructive growth and efficient administration. <\/p>\n

The Planning Commission is a joint
\nadvisory board, comprised of ten citizens of various backgrounds,
\nappointed by the elected officials of each governing body. The City of
\nValdosta has four appointments; the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners
\nhas three appointments; and the cities of Hahira, Lake Park, and Dasher
\neach have one appointment.  Members are appointed for five-year
\nterms. <\/p>\n
