\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nState Court Judge John Edwards came before the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners\r\n\r\nto ask them<\/a> to begin the process of asking for an additional State\r\nCourt Judge for Lowndes County. An additional State Court Judge\r\nwould have to be authorized by the Georgia Legislature, then filled\r\ninitially by an appointee by the Georgia Governor.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nAt this morning’s Work Session,\r\nthe Judge noted that with the\r\n\r\nrecent reforms enacted by the Georgia Legislature<\/a>,\r\nmany crimes previously classified as felonies are now\r\nclassified as misdemeanors. This has reduced the burden on the\r\nSuperior Courts and on the prison populations (a good thing)\r\nhowever, it has raised the load on the State Court without an\r\nincrease in resources.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
